Day Experience · Guided Vespa tour
Easy Vespa Escape
Caves, valleys and Spanish flavours. A relaxed day through the green side of the Marina Alta, with the Cueva de las Calaveras and a long lunch.
If you like the idea of a Vespa but not the idea of mountain passes, this is the day for you. We ride quiet roads through orange groves and vineyards, past small villages and wide valley views, and we take our time over all of it.
Halfway through we go underground. The Cueva de las Calaveras runs hundreds of metres into the rock, past formations that are millions of years old. It is a strange, cool, quiet place, and it is what makes this day different from an ordinary ride.
Afterwards we sit down at a Spanish restaurant for a proper lunch: helmets off, local dishes in the middle of the table, no hurry. You ride a new Vespa Primavera 125, automatic, with a helmet and intercom so your guide is with you the whole way.
No passes, no complicated routes, no rush. Just you, your Vespa and the best of this region.

Duration
From the morning into the afternoon
Times are a guideline. How long we stay somewhere depends on the day.

Group size
Max. 5 Vespas
Included
Vespa Primavera 125, helmets with intercom, local guide, coffee stop, lunch, fuel, and the statutory insurance for the Vespa.
That insurance covers the Vespa, not personal injury to participants. Do check whether your own health, travel or accident insurance covers riding a 125cc scooter in Spain.
Good to know
For this Experience the rider must be at least 25, with a licence valid for a 125cc scooter in Spain. Passengers have no minimum age.
The route
The valley, the cave and a long lunch
A deliberately gentle route: a wide road through the valley, a walk underground, and a table where nobody is counting the minutes.
-
START
Monte Pego, helmets and a practice round
The same calm start as always: helmets, intercoms, and two laps until the Vespa feels like yours. On this ride we take a little longer over it, because plenty of people here are on a scooter for the first time in years.
-
THE VALLEY
Orange groves, vineyards and small villages
Quiet roads through one of the greenest valleys of the Marina Alta. No mountain passes and no hairpins: just a wide road, orange groves on both sides and a village every few kilometres.
-
THE CAVE
Cueva de las Calaveras, underground
We leave the Vespas outside and walk into the hill. The cave runs some four hundred metres into the rock, past formations that took millions of years to grow. It is cool inside, even in August.
-
LUNCH
A long table at a Spanish restaurant
Helmets off, chairs pulled up, local dishes in the middle of the table. This is the part of the day nobody wants to hurry, so we do not.
-
FINISH
Back in Monte Pego
A different way home through the valley, and back at the starting point in the afternoon.
Hover a stop to find it on the map. The line is indicative.
Before you ask
Do I need experience?
No. If you can ride a bicycle you can ride our Vespas. We start with a short practice round on a quiet road until you feel at home.
Is it safe?
We ride small roads with little traffic, never more than five scooters, and your guide is on the intercom the whole way. All Vespas are new, serviced weekly and carry the statutory insurance. That insurance covers the Vespa, not injury to you.
Do I have to change gears?
No. Our Vespas are fully automatic. Turn the throttle and go.
What happens if it rains?
We move your day to another date, or we refund you in full. Riding in the rain is not the experience we want to give you.
